  1. As an Aiven customer in Europe
I want to be able to use European cloud providers
so that I can be certain that using the cloud provider is following the rules of the GDPR.
In addition, I would like the ability to choose from multiple European providers, so that I have a choice of where to bring my business.

  2. As SRE/FinOps, I want to disable Datadog integration on slave instance (when using active/passive architecture) so that I can reduce costs on Datadog side without degrading my monitoring/observability.

  3. As an System Architect, I want to get the service user limit value from the API
so that I can monitor this value and compare it to the number of users created for each service.
This functionality will help us to ensure healthy CI/CD pipelines so that they don't unexpected get stuck on a user limit.
The User Limit value could either in the API be bound on a project level or be populated as a value in the API available for each service.
At the time of writing the user limit for a project is by default set to…

  4. Company needs FedRAMP compliance as part of CMS federal regulations. Under this regulation, only US domiciled personnel may access or control managed services.

Likely this will merge in with something like FedRAMP based on that getting serious attention. I do not expect Aiven to do this anytime soon, but that can change with the right sponsoring agency.

  5. We want to have more info to know when a forked service is up and running.
ex. when testing backup restore, we face some difficulties as not everything is located in a single place (event logs & service logs).
There is no indication as to when the service is/was ready.
In the logs, it would be useful to have the different stages: provisioning, restore backup, wal, ready

  6. As a customer, I want the ability to designate non-urgent configuration and service updates to be implemented only during scheduled maintenance windows, so I can limit the risk of updates running outside of these windows, and impacting the availability of production systems.

  7. As a customer who has recently forked an Aiven service, like OpenSearch, I would like to pause the initiation of a backup, so that I can perform any necessary operational tasks before putting the forked service into production.

  8. As a Security Engineer, I want access to the service and user activity logs, as well as any custom metrics generated for my Aiven service, so that I am able to provide operational security services and audit support for my organization.

  9. As an IT Administrator I want to automate the on and off-boarding of users and manage their lifecycle in OneLogin.

SCIM allows an IT Administrator to provision users and groups automatically to Aiven and keeps them in sync with the identity provider.

  10. As a data or cloud engineer

I want to refer to secrets within Google Secret Manager when specifying Kafka Connector configurations

so that I can hide credentials from the Aiven UI that otherwise may be copied from the literal connector config.

In addition, this would lead to a more uniform customer experience across multiple clouds, since a config provider for AWS does already exist (see https://aiven.io/docs/products/kafka/kafka-connect/howto/configure-secret-providers).

  11. As GitOps
I want to Autorotate my BYOC cloud credentials
so that I can rotate keys without having to manually request and provide the new credentials to Aiven before keys are rotated.

  12. As software engineer
I would like to have access to accesscertnotvalidaftertime in the aivenkafka_user data source through the Aiven Terraform Provider.

This field is available in the Aiven API but not in terraform. We would like to place service user credentials in our companies secret management tool and this feature would allow us to do this through terraform without the need to also access the API.

    Thank you.

  13. When a user updates a service's user configuration, it can be quite impactful to the service, but no log of the event is tracked anywhere. This makes it quite hard to trace through why behaviour changed, especially for e.g. config changes that trigger service restarts.

  15. As a platform developer
I want to create new Aiven for Valkey services using the aiven-operator
so that I can migrate my applications away from Aiven for Caching (Redis) before Redis EOL.

  16. There is a need for retrieving a list of services at all kind getting near to the end of life of the version in the console as well with the CLI

Ideally with a configurable value for the time between alert and actual EOL date.

That would be very valuable for mid term upgrade planning effort of customers

  17. As an SRE
I want to be able to monitor the JMX metrics from my OpenSearch Cluster
so that I can ensure my cluster is Healthy.
In addition, it would be nice to consume these with Dynatrace. I see there is a Jolokia option for Kafka only.

  18. Warning and critical alerts are fairly basic, for instance sending a Critical alert when disk usage is above 80%.
If the service has several TB of diskspace, and a growth of 1% per month, such an alert might be many months or even years premature.

As an service operator I want alerts to incorporate trend-based predictions to avoid unnecessary “Critical” alerts while still sending an alert if usage suddenly spikes.

I want to be able to share specific changelog updates with my colleagues instead of just linking the changelog page itself and letting them find the update I was mentioning.

  20. Users would like to use the private DNS feature with their PrivateLink endpoint connections, as shown in the error below.
