  1. Configurable backup retention period

    As a database administrator
    I want to be able to adjust my backup retention time
    so that I can meet my data retention and/or compliance requirements.
    In addition, there may be technical or other business cases where my specific use case indicates a different retention period.

  2. Point in Time Recovery in a Secondary Backup Region

    As a database administrator
    I want to designate a secondary region where service backups will be replicated to (BTAR) and perform a point in time recovery (PITR) within that region
    so that I can ensure data protection and lossless service recovery in the face of region-wide outages

  3. Allow for graceful recovery of "queries gone wild" on free tier plans

    As as free plan user
    I want my database to come back online after a rogue query fills the disk
    so that I can resume my development
    In addition, if I stop and restart my service it should come back online in a timely manner

  4. Option to update / reduce backup policy of new OpenSearch services

    As a customer who has recently forked an Aiven service, like OpenSearch, I would like to pause the initiation of a backup, so that I can perform any necessary operational tasks before putting the forked service into production.

  5. Report on my service SLA

    As an SRE or DBA, I want to be able to see the SLA of my services so that I can understand how well the service can provide the business needs we have for managed services. This allows me to report back on the quality of the Aiven services and hold Aiven accountable for the agreement. Ideally, if this were in my console, it could roll up the overall SLA of our Aiven services across the account.

  6. Backup Replication to Another Cloud Provider

    As an Aiven customer,
    I want to replicate my backups to a second cloud provider
    So that I can easily incorporate cross-vendor backup and recovery into my resiliency and risk management portfolio

  7. Ability to pause the backup process for a period of time

    As an Aiven customer I want to be able to pause the backup scheme for a given period of time, so that I can perform data imports or schema updates without fear of interruption due to a backup locking out these abilities.
