  1. As an Aiven user, I would like to be able to authenticate to the platform with passkeys (i.e. webauthn). This is more convenient and secure than a password. Ideally, I would be able to remove password authentication from my account if I enable or sign up with a passkey.

  2. As a user with multiple devices, I would like to be able to add additional 2FA devices to my authentication profile. Currently, if I want to add a new device, I have to disable 2FA, and then enable it again on every device with the new token key, and re-issue my tokens.

  3. As an Aiven customer with a verified domain, I would like the option to restrict the list of domain names in the email addresses users can use to sign into my account. Particularly, I'd like to prevent users from domains I don't control from being invited to my account. Ideally, I could specify a list of allowed email domains, or at least restrict sign-in to my verified domains. Users with email addresses with domain names not in the list should be denied access.

  4. As an Aiven user depending on platform authentication and using 2FA to improve account security, I would prefer to be able to reset 2FA by the use of recovery codes; simultaneously, I would prefer that resetting my password via email password reset not clear my 2FA settings.

  5. As an IT manager
I want to add a new user to a group at the time of inviting them
so that I can do a single action and not have to wait for them to setup an account.

Our current process of adding a new user takes 3 steps.
    1. Invite by IT manager
    2. User setups an account
    3. They are adding to the group by IT manager

  7. As as free plan user
I want my database to come back online after a rogue query fills the disk
so that I can resume my development
In addition, if I stop and restart my service it should come back online in a timely manner

    See https://aiven.io/community/forum/t/postgres-stuck-rebuilding-whole-website-down/748 for back-story.

  8. As developer,
I would like to access a web console that would provide audited access to services, such as a psql shell, and be able to run PostgreSQL commands.

For example, we'd like to interact with the database to resolve the following error without needing psql installed locally or network connectivity from our laptop. https://docs.aiven.io/docs/products/kafka/kafka-connect/howto/debezium-source-connector-pg#solve-the-error-must-be-superuser-to-create-for-all-tables-publication

In addition, this would be especially useful for services which have been secured, like custom PCI-DSS environments.

  9. As an Aiven admin user who manages resource definitions in Kubernetes using Aiven operator, I want changes further made in Aiven via other APIs to be automatically reconciled, so that desired and actual state remain consistent.

  11. As a developer, I want to be able to list all the databases I have in my PostgreSQL service so that I can easily find the one I am looking for.

The Aiven API only lists the top 100 now, and I cannot search them. This means if I have more than 100 databases I cannot find them in console or via the Aiven API.

  12. As a developer, I would like to be able to use tags created on Aiven services in rsyslog integrations. This would allow organizing services data based on these tags in the logs or metrics integrations.

  13. As a customer
I want to manage RBAC via Terraform (including assigning users as members of groups, and assigning roles to groups for our projects)
so that I can administer our roles fully in one place without needing to sign in to the portal.
This is currently blocked due to an issue relating to user invites (see https://github.com/aiven/terraform-provider-aiven/pull/1367#issuecomment-1765722571) - meaning in Terraform we can create users, and create groups, but we cannot assign users as group members (and no resource exists in the Aiven Terraform provider yet to allow us to assign project roles to groups, AFAIK).

  14. As an Aiven customer in Europe
I want to be able to use European cloud providers
so that I can be certain that using the cloud provider is following the rules of the GDPR.
In addition, I would like the ability to choose from multiple European providers, so that I have a choice of where to bring my business.

  15. As a security engineer or CISO I want to get Aiven platform and service logs into my SIEM
so that I can manage and understand the operational security of my organization
In addition, being able to integrate natively with my SIEM of choice would allow for easier data flows.

  17. As an System Architect, I want to get the service user limit value from the API
so that I can monitor this value and compare it to the number of users created for each service.
This functionality will help us to ensure healthy CI/CD pipelines so that they don't unexpected get stuck on a user limit.
The User Limit value could either in the API be bound on a project level or be populated as a value in the API available for each service.
At the time of writing the user limit for a project is by default set to…

There doesn't seem to be demand for this feature. It was tracked previously and there was no demand. If this comes up again, we can re-open this for gathering interest.

  19. Customers with highly sensitive data are not able to bring their data onto public cloud (esp European customers are not willing to have their data on US based cloud providers). Aiven providing BYOC model on private clouds covers the needs of this market segment.

Likely this will merge in with something like FedRAMP based on that getting serious attention. I do not expect Aiven to do this anytime soon, but that can change with the right sponsoring agency.
