  1. As a product owner of Aiven services
I want to be able to select Long term support versions of the Aiven products
so that I can have the upgrade cycles match those of my other products without having to request exceptions when End of life warnings start appearing
In addition, I'd like to be able to made aware of any maintainence done to my clusters if they are in anyway destructive.

Although this sounds reasonable in practice and many Linux distributions follow this, the projects we run at Aiven do not. So we are unable to build secured versions of open-source projects for long-term support. This would require an immense amount of engineering to maintain legacy versions of these 11 open-source projects. We also run Linux infrastructure, which is not part of the LTS model, so this would be yet another issue with the idea of LTS. If you'd like to discuss more, I am happy to speak with you.

  2. As as free plan user
I want my database to come back online after a rogue query fills the disk
so that I can resume my development
In addition, if I stop and restart my service it should come back online in a timely manner

  3. Asa project admin
I want my projects to support availability zones in all Azure regions where they are available and not only a subset
so that I can improve resiliency in case of AZ failure.

The following Azure regions are not multi-AZ yet:
East US (Virginia): multi-AZ in Azure but single-AZ in Aiven
UK South (London): multi-AZ in Azure but single-AZ in Aiven

  4. Customers with highly sensitive data are not able to bring their data onto public cloud (esp European customers are not willing to have their data on US based cloud providers). Aiven providing BYOC model on private clouds covers the needs of this market segment.

  5. As a devops engineers,

I want the default menu/tab chosen of region is active on vpc instead of Asia Pacific, because we sometimes do cloud migration or other activities that require to choose/change cloud provider and corresponding region. Last time, there's a blunder when choosing the region. In the beginning, we intend to change region from [vpc]taiwan (google-asia-east1) to be [vpc]singapore (google-asia-southeast1), but accidentally we do wrong choice, selecting the region in menu/tab Asia Pacific instead of VPC.

So to avoid misconfiguration or human error while doing this kind of activity (cloud migration/others), it's feasible to make VPC…
