  1. Support High Availability Read-Replica Services

    As a site reliability engineer,
    I want to be able to create a highly available read-replica service,
    so that I can use it in the critical path of my application without availability being affected by loss of a single node.
    In addition, this can currently be achieved via at least two separate read-replica services (currently plans are limited to those with only one node) and appropriate client configuration, but Aiven should be able to do this for me instead.

  2. Replicate the usage of Oracle Autonomous Transaction

    As developer or DBA
    I want to be able to reproduce the behavior of Oracle Autonomous Transaction inside Postgres.
    so that I can create a different transaction that is not impacting the current one. Use case can be logging for example),
    In addition, this can be achieved using DBLinks but it requires to put the password inside a plSQL function. To avoid that, Aiven could have a new parameter allowing local connections without password.

    As a Cassandra user,
    I would like to reduce operational overhead (ex. Java) and reduce cost of my Cassandra (self-managed or on Aiven) service without code changes and while benefiting from all the advantages of Cassandra.

  4. In-Place Major Upgrades on Standbys and Read-Replicas for PostgreSQL

    As a database administrator or developer, I would like to perform in-place major upgrades on standby nodes and read-replicas for PostgreSQL so that the whole upgrade window is considerably shorter, resulting in increased high-availability for standbys and improved availability for read replicas. This feature will also alleviate any bottlenecks caused by the quorum sync replication, enhancing the overall database system's efficiency and resilience.

  5. pgbouncer logging

    As a database administrator or developer, I would like to see PgBouncer logging.
    At minimal I should be able to see connection pool creation/deletion/changes and all outbound clients connected to which pool with source IPs.
    1. pgbouncer logs should be available by "avn service logs" and aiven console.
    2. pgbouncer logs should be available with rsyslog integration to 3rd parties.
    3. ideally logging level can be controlled by pg service config parameter pg.logerrorverbosity
    bonus: pgbouncer stats ingested into logging.

  6. See the end time or current status of a backup taking place

    It would be great to be able to see the end time of when a backup is completed.
    This way you can know how long the backup took. As well as monitor and see when the lock error will no longer occur.

  8. Support for scram

    Aiven end customers and their security teams are asking for support for more modern authentication methods, mainly scram-sha256. Scram has been supported by Postgres since version 10. Introducing the support in Aiven platform would allow customers to enchance their database security.

  14. Initiate a high-availability takeover manually

    As a database administrator,
    I would like to be able to see the availability zone locations of the cloud region where my high-availability capable PostgreSQL or MySQL database cluster resides, and I would like to be able to initiate a manual high-availability takeover operation for that cluster,
    so that I can have improved visibility of the availability zones where my database cluster instances are located, and I would have more authority on promotion of read-replicas for the the purpose of troubleshooting performance issues and avoiding incidental issues on specific availability zones.

  15. Failover ready scaled read replica

    As Database administrator, with a large footprint of applications being served,
    I want to have a read only replica cluster in another region, that is sized appropriately, with it's own read replica nodes provisioned,
    so that I can fail over and that read replica can quickly handle the production workload in the scenario of a disaster in one region/cloud vendor, to minimise any disruption to service.

    As a user managing PostgreSQL service accounts through Terraform,
    I want to ensure that enabling the replication option using your Terraform provider does not lead to the recreation of the service account.
    This way, the service account can retain its ownership and privileges over database objects such as tables and functions, avoiding potential disruptions.

  20. Aiven Cli Integration with octopusdeploy CD

    As the founder, we are interested in enabling multiple users to MySQL Database directly via the Aiven CLI, preferably utilizing Octopus Deploy. They have a community step template which can facilitate the creation of users if they don't already exist. In order to set up a connection to Aiven CLI within our CI/CD, the Aiven CLI needs to be installed within the octopusdeploy/worker-tools. Configuration instructions for this can be found on Github, specifically at https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/WorkerTools/tree/master/ubuntu.22.04 and https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/WorkerTools/blob/master/windows.ltsc2019/Dockerfile.
